We stayed at sun outdoors for 1 night while we were in transit to San Diego. We booked same day which was no issue at all. The lady on the phone was very helpful and check in process was fast and easy. Our only complaint was the spaces were very tight. We are full time RVers and we have definitely seen some tight sites but I think this was the tightest we had to fit our RV and our pickup into. It wasn't that big of an issue since we were staying one night but for longer stays I could see it being a little difficult. The park is about 15 minutes to Santa Barbara and easily accessible for the highway. Overall it was a decent stay.
As per other reviews, the sites are tight and you will have to do some maneuvering to get a big rig in. Note that a lot of sites have slopes in and out of the sites which make it difficult for low clearance RVs and 5th wheels. My biggest complaint is the micro tiny ants which WILL visit you in your RV. We still have them inside after checking out several days ago. They need to spray to keep these under control.
The location of the resort is good and close to El Capitan State Park/Beach.
The park is OK. There is no dining or any type of restaurant on the premises, the beach is a 15-20 min. walk. There really isn't much room for biking as the roads are hills. The pool is okay, it's not to big or to small, there is also a jacuzzi pool, it's accessible to everyone so kids hang out in it. There is a walking trail that was nice.
Very nice RV park. Lots of amenities: pool, spa, store, dog park, near the beach, child play ground, horse shoes. It was clean, there were bushes between the RV sites. There was a seperate tent camping site. The reason for the 4 stars was the freeway and train noise. It is right next to 101.
Friendly staff! Great little store. Sister property down the hill had a fantastic store. Easy check in. Mixed emotions that you can charge items to your site number. Too easy to overspend! haha. Pool was refreshing and pool area was always clean. Nice bathrooms, but a few times, especially later in the day (they were cleaned in the AM) the bathrooms would get messy and sometimes low on TP etc. Showers got quite messy from the beach goers. I think the site lock in price is too high. Never paid more than $25 for that and they are $40. Except for the periodic bathroom cleanliness and lock in fee, an amazing experience and we will be back. I read some of the negative reviews and would respond that the RV sites felt private because of the bushes and the size was fantastic. Maybe down by the tents not as great, but how many places do you have a parking spot next to your RV not in front or behind! Also regarding the noise some complain of, that is a people and camp issue everywhere. However we found the noisy people turned off sound at a reasonable time. I suggest Sun Outdoors change their quiet hours to 10 instead of 11, but that is just me. We will be back!
This is a hidden gem 💎! I almost don't want to review it to keep the traffic down! Lol 😅 very quiet, clean, well maintained and beautiful!! You can walk to the beach ⛱️, hike the mountains or just sit back and enjoy the serenity of the resort. It even has a pool!!!
This was fancy camping. We enjoyed ourselves and felt like everything was very well taken care of. There is a grassy area with a park, pool, hot tub, and lots of paths for bikes or walking. The only thing I didn't love was the way the tent area was laid out. I'm used to having my own area with my car close by. I didn't love having to walk through other people's campgrounds to get to my own.
Very torn by this place on one side the staff was friendly but I have a bit of a bigger rig and the spots were a bit tight and it was really tight on the drive up to the campground. The price was really high for a campground that didn't have direct views of the water. Very nice people I think if I had a smaller trailer and had no concept of cash this would be a good place to stay.
